Photovoltaic Solar Panels in Gosport

As I have said in an earlier post, I am not convinced about the Human effect on Global Warming, but can see that in the UK we need to use less resources, as there would not be enough to go round the World, also this would put up the cost of these resources. Perhaps if the Coalition gamble does not pay off a very devalued £ could mean the UK could not afford the resources, in particular energy that it needs. I feel if we can use less or produce more it would put us in a better position.

I am not able to drive so walk or cycle most places, have low energy bulbs, but with the introduction of the Energy Feed in Tariff (FiT) felt it was time to look at the solar panels. I had them fitted on the 8th July and I paid for them by taking my pension, with the maximum 25% of the pension some that you can take in cash before buying an annuity. I still have to arrange the payments of the  (FiT) when I receive a certificate, that I have been told I should receive this week.

I heard some objections on BBC Radio 4 that the (FiT) is being paid by the poor to pay to the rich. The idea being the 5% green subsidy added to all energy bills is going to those who can afford to produce the energy. Surely it is better to pay that amount to small producers at  rate up to 9%  of the cost, with the depreciation of 4% (due to last 25 years) so 5% and if the systems do not work out all the risk goes on the person paying for it. Rather than to the large companies building Nuclear Power Stations or Wind Farms, who I suspect will want a better return. In the past when Private Finance Initiatives have gone wrong the large companies drop out leaving the population of the UK to pick up the bill.

Even when people tried to suggest the above, the commentators on Radio 4 still went on about the poor paying the rich. Interesting as in an interview between a BBC journalist and the MP with the moat with the MPs salary of £64,000 asked the journalist what she earned, she said, that she was on £98,000 for asking a few questions and normally ignoring the answers. Then they have been going on about highly paid Civil Servants, though I left 10 years ago, it seems a cheek when most Civil Servants are on a fifth of what that journalist earns. Well that's another story.

I bought my system from PV Solar UK Ltd www.freeelectricity4u.co.uk but did get quotes/ estimates from 3 other companies also found a council web site which gave an idea of what  you should expect to pay there seems to be more now.. I will keep you up to date on how the solar panels go, seems about 10KWh per day is the best I get so say £5 per day towards the cost of the panels. I will add something about the whole ordering, installation and so on after I have received the pack and certificate and have signed up with a power company.

It does seem strange that I have two laptops, a TV, a fridge freezer, another freezer, a router, plus all the other things that are just on like a freeview box and my meter is stopped. Ian
