Lots of Police at the Cri

I was coming home from my sisters and brother-in-laws in The Crossways about 10:30pm tonight, by the way the house is on the market. I saw that the end of The Crossways was closed, I went home via Jervis Drive and Mill Lane. The whole of the Cri area was cordon off and full of police, though over the last weeks there have been a lot of police in the area, on bikes, in cars and even walking.

When I reach the Junction Public House, I heard my name called from across the road, I was probably wrong to turn and ask,' How do you know who I am', the reply, 'I'm Noreen's Grandson', then I recognised him as he came in to the light, as my Step brother, Brian's son, Alex. He said that there had been a car crash and a woman was killed. The second in a few months within a few hundred yards. Ian

New Years Day

It was a bit different today to the weather yesterday. On the last day of 2006, it was overcast and windy with some rain of and on all day, though not raining at midnight.

Today it was dry , sunny and colder, with rain PM but dry in the evening with a clear sky, full moon and stars. I suspect it will be colder overnight.

I had a bit of a worry yesterday, first time in ages I was having people round on New Years Eve, I found I had a power cut from 10:30pm 23rd to 4:15am 24th then again from 7:45am to 11:45am it was off and on again for an hour or so. I was lucky though, the power stayed on from then. I understand that many places power (electricity) is not as reliable as here, it is very rare for me to have a power cut, then it is a few minutes up to an hour at a time, though resetting clocks, videos and fax machine can take as long. I doubt we could survive the 3 day week or 8 hour regular power cuts of the 70's. Ian
