Fort Gilkicker Developement

I understand the Local Press has taken up the case of those against any development at Fort Gilkicker. For more information plans and different points of view see The Fort Gilkicker web site by the Palmerston Forts Society there is also a forum on the site.

It seems to me the argument is to leave it as it is produce a nature reserve around the current building. Any homes or other use will bring traffic to the area and disturb the wildlife that has built up in the area over the years.

Against a view if no commercial purpose is found for the Fort then it will rot away with time and vandalism. If no income Hampshire County Council (the owner of the site) will want to spend as little as possible. Would people in other parts of Hampshire want too much spent in Gosport.
